UNFORGETTABLE

Hole # 2 on the trail nine is a 158 yard par 3. Things slow down on this hole because the panoramic view from Port Ludlow to the Cascade Mountains is spectacular. Don't get too distracted, this hole plays downhill with a breeze in your face which makes club selection a tricky one.

TESTER

Hole # 6 on the trail nine is a dogleg left par 4. Off the tee don't take the tempting short cut to the left. The trees down the left are taller than they appear. Aim at the two trees forming a goal post. If you kick that extra point and make the fairway, take one extra club if you wish to clear the bunker that guards the front of the green.

DIRECTIONS

From Seattle take the ferry to Bainbridge Island, then Hwy 305 to Poulsbo. Turn north on Hwy 3 and proceed to the Hood Canal Bridge. Cross the bridge (State Hwy 104) take 1st right off of bridge (Paradise Bay Road) proceed 4 1/2 miles to Teal Lake Road. Turn left and travel one block to Highland Drive. Turn right and follow to clubhouse. Look for signs.

Port Ludlow has 27 holes that wind their way through tall fir trees and over Port Ludlow Bay and the Hood Canal. How can the average player score better on a difficult course? - AL SALVI

Know your strengths and weaknesses on the course. If you cannot hit the draw don't do it. Lay up to the point where you have a straighter shot. If you have a favorite club, lay up to its distance so you can use it. Play to your strengths in order to avoid your weaknesses. Good course management will result in lower scores.
