Horn Rapids is one of the finest Desert courses I’ve ever played. Living most of my life in Southern California, I’ve played in Palm Desert hundreds of rounds. Horn Rapids rivals the top courses I’ve played. From the beautiful views of the rolling hills to the winding Snake River, you’ll be taken with the views on every hole. You’ll get the true desert experience at Horn Rapids with desert and grasses off the side of the fairways. It gives you the feel of a little Scottish and a little Desert and a championship course all rolled into one. Horn Rapids will give you all the challenge you want from the tips yet is very playable for all skill levels from the forward tees. Horn Rapids is worth the drive from anywhere in the Pacific Northwest.

UNFORGETTABLE

Hole # 14 is a par 5 that measures 512 yards in length. This downhill challenge has risk/reward features strewn throughout the hole. The fairway is bordered and separated by the sand and sage of the desert floor. Make sure you take in all the natural beauty before you focus on your tee shot.

TESTER

Hole # 4 is a par 3 that proves the theory that short holes can be dangerous. This hole looks down at the Yakima River and its framework is housed by a slender crowned green. This green is both difficult to hit and if missed, can be as challenging to get up and down. Take par and run!

DIRECTIONS

Take I-90 east. Follow Richland-Pasco-Kennewick signs from Vantage Bridge. On Hwy 240 just as you enter Richland, golf course is located on the right.

Horn Rapids Golf Club is a classic, true desert design. The course winds its way through the sand and sage of the natural desert, providing a brilliant contrast of green grass and desert colors. Horn Rapids also offers one of the most challenging putting courses anywhere. The design is unique, in that it replicates the big course, only on a smaller scale. It comes complete with sand bunkers, waterfalls and out-of-bounds.

When playing a packed golf course, how can you maintain your speed of play even if you're not a low handicap golfer? - SUE SLAUGENHAUPT

It's important when playing on a busy day that your group keep up with the group in front of you. Ready golf will help you accomplish this. Be prepared with yardage and club selection, have your putt read and decisions made before it's your turn and post your scores on the next tee, not on the green while the next group is waiting.
