UNFORGETTABLE

Hole #8 is a 162 yard par 3. Your tee shot has to carry over a beautifully mown gully onto an undulating green, with a backdrop of wildflowers. This hole is especially beautiful in the spring when the flowers are all in bloom.

TESTER

Hole #7 is a short but tricky par 4. This hole plays 333 yards from the white tees. The premium is on a well placed tee shot onto a relatively narrow fairway. The second shot is made difficult by a small, firm and undulating green. Be careful on the green, 3-putts tend to be the rule rather than the exception.

DIRECTIONS

From the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drive west on Hwy 16 to the Hwy 3 S. Airport/Belfair/Shelton exit (on the left side of the road. Follow until stoplight. Go straight ahead to West Belfair Valley Road. Turn left and go approximately 2 miles. Gold Mountain will be on the left. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes from the bridge.

The Cascade course is a fun golf course to play. It plays just over 6000 yards from the regular tees with no houses and only one O.B., making it playable for all levels. The low handicapper will be challenged from the back tees, and this course can be made very difficult for tournament play. The Cascade course drains extremely well keeping it very dry and in great shape, which makes the greens enjoyable to putt year round.

What guidelines will help golfers enjoy their round? - JOE PERDUE

Too many people think they need to play the "whole" course, playing from the tournament tees instead of from the teeing area that would best suit their handicap. Here's the general rule of thumb: If your handicap is 5 or less, play from any tee: 6-10 blue tees or closer: 11-30 white tees or closer: anything above 30 you should play the forward tees. If you follow these guidelines, both you and everybody behind you will enjoy the experience significantly more.
